Supporting Kim Joong-up Museum Exhibition
Yuyu Pharma sponsored the special exhibition in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the death of Architect Kim Joong-up, a leading architect of Korean contemporary architecture. The Yuyu Pharma Anyang Factory, designed by the architect in 1959, was purchased by Anyang City in 2007 and remodeled into the “Kim Joong-up Museum”. The deceased founder and former Chairman of Yuyu Pharma, Teukhan Yu, asked the architect to design a factory. He requested an unprecedented architectural design taking account of the architectural aesthetics, and cultural and artistic values. This was a decision made with the focus on not just improving productivity when the factory is built, but the former Chairman wanted to build the factory without harming the surrounding environment. He also wanted to establish the building as a local landmark. For the first time, Kim Joong-up's 123 original major works produced at the Atelier of Architect Le Corbusier in France for three years and two months from 1952 were exhibited.
